Hello chocolate fanatics everywhere! I feel like every time I post here on Food Fanatic that it's almost like I'm returning to my home planet or something. A place where people love chocolate as much as I do. It's like coming home.
I've become completely addicted to skillet cookies lately. I have always loved cooking and baking in my cast iron skillets. I even use them on my grill. But I have a particular fondness for the tiny cast iron pans I picked up in Miami last spring.
There's something so fun about tiny food. I can never get enough of it. I adore making desserts in mini cast iron pan, in mini dessert dishes, and cute little shot glasses - see my brownie brittle no bake cheesecakes for proof. It has become a complete obsession. The tinier and cuter the better.
I'm also absolutely addicted to nuts lately. Whether it's peanuts, hazelnuts, pistachios or cashews. I swear I should buy stock in a nut farm. Or buy a nut farm and live happily ever after in my nut filled utopia.
The only thing better than desserts with nuts in them is desserts with both nuts and chocolate in them. I made a different version of this recently on my blog, it was a chocolate and hazelnut skillet cookie. That one was freaking fabulous. Almost identical to this one, just with hazelnuts tossed in.
I really dig the chocolate and peanut butter combination too. It's sort of funny because I'm not a big peanut butter fanatic. You will never see me grab a jar of peanut butter and nosh out of it with a giant spoon. It will never happen. I do not dig peanut butter solo. However I dig it big time in desserts with chocolate.
I made Snickers cheesecake bars that use the chocolate, peanut butter and peanut combination not long ago, they were a huge hit with the family and friends. If you dig that flavour combo, I highly recommend making them. To die for. Seriously, so good!
My brother loves peanut butter though, so over the years I've learned to make a lot of peanut butter treats. He's a total peanut butter fanatic. That dude could eat a jar of peanut butter a day when we were kids. I love making peanut butter cookies for him for Christmas.
Whenever I make him a batch, I always make myself a batch with chocolate tossed in. So when I was playing around with some skillet cookie recipes, it just seemed natural to make a peanut butter and chocolate version. I hope you approve. I know my whole family gave the thumbs up.
Enjoy this with some ice cream on top. Or whipped cream. Or ice cream and whipped cream. Whatever makes you happy.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Skillet Cookie Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 cup peanut butter baking chips
- 1 cup dry roasted unsalted peanuts
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, combine the butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar, mix well on low to medium speed.
- Now add the vanilla and eggs, mix until combined.
- In a medium-sized bowl combine the flour, baking soda and salt, mix by hand until well combined.
- Combine the contents of both bowls, mix on low-speed until combined.
- Add the chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and the peanuts to the bowl, mix by hand.
- Spray the cast iron skillet(s) with non-stick spray, or grease it with a bit of butter.
- Spoon the cookie mixture into one 10 or 12 inch cast iron skillet, or two 6 inch cast iron skillets.
- Place in oven and bake for about 25 to 35 minutes.
- Remove the cast iron skillet(s) from the oven.
- Top with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired. This dessert is best served warm.
- Serve with a big old chocolate and peanut loving smile!
