Fashion trends come and go on a short basis, and maintaining an up-to-date closet is not always as easy. However, there are some key pieces that remain in style forever and will help you establish your closet and define your personal style around them. These basics are usually the core of everyone's wardrobe for very good reasons, being their versatility and foolproof results on top of the list. These are the six fashion key pieces that every woman should own...

1. Skinny jeans. A denim pair is not only essential, but the perfect go-to for nearly any occasion, dressy or casual. There are tons of styles and tones that fit everyone, but dark washed skinny jeans are the most flattering and fanciest.

2. White t-shirt. A lifetime classic, a white t-shirt is the solution to any outfit, casual or elegant. Wear it with a pair of jeans and flats or with a statement mini-skirt and nice jewelry and you've got two totally different classic looks. It won't steal the spotlight, so it's perfect to wear it with trendier, eye-catching pieces.

3. Oversized sweater. An oversized sweater is the perfect combination of glamour and comfort. I have a sweater in nearly every color and I really don't feel like needing anything else. For day or night, specially practical during colder seasons, it's super easy to wear it over anything and look freshly in style. And the wide range of colors, fabrics and textures blacks out the "wearing the same thing" dilemma.

4. Little black dress. The little black dress is, by far, the best fashion invention. It can be worn with literally anything and is perfect for most occasions. With the variety on fabrics, styles, and cuts, it's really easy to find a dress that perfectly fits any body type. You can dress it up with heels and elegant jewelry or dress it down with flats and a cardigan, but however you choose to wear it, it needs a special place on every woman's closet.

5. Nude flats. When it comes to footwear, a pair of nude flats is essential. They can be as dressy as they can be casual, and always super comfortable. For me, this is a go-to when no other pair of shoes feels right, and as of today, it still hasn't failed neither in comfort nor in style.

6. Black pumps. Black pumps are another essential when talking footwear. You can rely on them for any outfit because not only will they work with anything you wear, they will also make your legs look longer and slimmer. In short, you can never go wrong with this fashion staple. From day to night, work to party, black pumps will always work while being both conservative and sophisticated.

You might have a few more staples in your closet that you'll never want to get rid of, but these six pieces will never go out of style.
